TTU football coaching staff passes out lunches at Frenship

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Each day, members of Frenship ISD's faculty pass out lunches to families. Today, they had some help from Texas Tech head football coach Matt Wells.

"We're just like everybody else. We live here. These are our schools. My daughter will be going to this ninth grade center next year," Wells said. "All of my kids go to Frenship and we've got coaches helping out in other districts in Lubbock and it's just another way for Jen and I to give back and just to help."

Wells' staff passed out more than over 8,000 lunches.

"They raise our children. They teach our children. It's just helping these teachers and principals out a little bit," Wells said.

"Normal life is still out there, we're heading back towards that. They want to come out and serve the community and we really appreciate that," Frenship Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Keith Patrick said.

Patrick said it provided something that is hard to find these days; a good time to interact in a positive way.

"For them to get to get out and see Coach Wells and his staff, who they watch every Saturday, it provides extra excitement and joy for them. For some of our families this is their only chance to get out during the day to come and get some meals. We wanted to be as positive as possible. We had some music and had some fun and we get to know our families. They come every day to the same place," Patrick said.

Frenship offers curbside pickup at the Ninth Grade Center, Legacy Elementary, North Ridge Elementary, Terra Vista Middle School, Westwind and Willow Bend Elementary.
