LUBBOCK, Texas -

News release from High Point Village:

On Monday, April 6th, High Point Village launched two virtual programs, Reach High at Home and Dream Big at Home, for their Villagers with intellectual disabilities. This creative and customized programming has allowed staff to remain engaged with their Villagers while Living, Learning, Working and Worshipping at home. This new online method for delivering dynamic programming to their Villagers is multi-faceted and includes many components of existing programming plus new elements such as instructional and inspirational videos, daily devotionals, fitness, cooking and art classes, all featuring the program teachers. The Villagers also receive printed curriculum available to families at the Enrichment Center drive-through, and interactive educational and relational programming allowing Villagers to interact with each other and the staff from home.

“Every morning, we sign onto Zoom and the Villagers are already signed on and waiting eagerly to see their friends and teachers,” said Jaimie Havens, Program Director. “They joyfully welcome each new face that appears in tiny boxes on their screens. Our Villagers have taught us to find joy even in the midst of hardship. While this was not a part of their plan or ours, they are still seizing every opportunity to grow and learn and be a part of community.”

High Point Village is a close-knit family where Villagers feel loved, valued and hold a deep sense of connection with their peers and staff. The relationships that have been built with the Villagers through in-person contact has always been a critical part of their well-being and overall mental health. This programming allows High Point Village to continue their commitment to being intentional with their Villagers during this period of social distancing and physical separation.
