LUBBOCK, Texas -

A high-speed police chase ended with the fatal shooting of a suspect near the Lubbock airport Thursday afternoon.

The pursuit started with the Texas Anti-Gang unit was conducting another investigation near MLK Blvd. and East Dartmouth. Investigators noticed a stolen vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop which led to the pursuit.

According to police, the vehicle came to a stop when three suspects bailed out near the intersection of East 10th street and Ute Ave. Police say one suspect was arrested.

During this time, an officer noticed a suspect attempting to steal a different vehicle from a victim which led to another pursuit.

The driver continued to evade and headed northbound on MLK and turned on North Regis street, where the vehicle spun out of control.

Lubbock police, DPS troopers and Lubbock County Sheriffs surrounded the vehicle when the suspect began to ram into patrol units, pinning an officer between his unit and the stolen vehicle, according to police.

That's when multiple shots were fired at the suspect and we pronounced dead at the scene.

A DPS Trooper and an LPD Officer had minor non-life-threatening injuries, and were taken to the hospital to be treated.

Police have not identified the two additional suspects.
