LUBBOCK -

Two people were injured in a crash that ended a driver's attempt to outrun Lubbock Police officers Wednesday evening.

LPD reports an officer saw a driver run a red light at the Marsha Sharp Freeway access road and University Ave. The vehicle swerved into traffic and nearly hit several other vehicles.

When the officer tried to pull the driver over, the driver took off. Officers chased the vehicle through a neighborhood, where the driver crashed into a fence near 1st street and Akron Ave. The driver continued, eventually coming to a stop crashing into a parked vehicle in the 2800 block of First Place.

There were four people in the vehicle, two identified as juveniles. When police approached the vehicle the juvenile driver was immediately taken into custody, according to the police report. Police report the other juvenile tried to escape out the driver's side door, but was arrested.

19-year-old Cody Vaughn, the front passenger in the vehicle, was arrested and charged with possession of drug drug paraphernalia. Additionally, police say 19-year-old back passenger Islah Blu told officers she was "hammered". Blu was arrested and charged with public intoxication.

Investigators report finding drug paraphernalia, a firearm with the serial numbers scratched off and marijuana inside the vehicle.

One person had moderate injuries, one minor injuries. EMS treated them on-scene.

The juvenile driver is charged with evading in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, tampering with identification numbers on a firearm, unlawful carrying of a weapon, criminal mischief and possession of marijuana.
