HUD awards Lubbock Housing Authority more than $100,000

Posted: Updated:

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has granted Lubbock more than $100,000 to help move tenants.

These vouchers will help move 22 residents out of the Cherry Point/36 South Apartments.

It's been slated for conversion or demolition, according to the grant program.

"Providing families with reliable, affordable housing is so important during these trying times," said HUD Secretary Ben Carson. "Throughout the COVID-19 outbreak, HUD is continuing to serve our most vulnerable populations that rely on this assistance."

HUD designated $16 million for similar efforts nation-wide.
