Salvation Army provides rent, utility assistance during COVID-19 pandemic

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock Salvation Army is making it easier to qualify for rent or utility assistance.

Through a $75,000 grant provided by the Community Foundation of West Texas and the Lubbock Area United Way, The Salvation Army has will start providing rent and utility assistance to those impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

It offers services year-round, but usually requires a proof of cut-off or eviction notice. Now, the Salvation Army has waived the requirement since cities and courts aren't pushing those out.

Now, those seeking assistance need to prove they've been negatively impacted by COVID-19. That includes layoffs, cutbacks in hours or increased child care costs. Those who meet the criteria can get up to $750 to help cover rent.

Those needing assistance MUST first call to make an appointment (806-765-9434).
