LPD: K-9 wounded from shooting 'expected to make full recovery'

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock police say a police K-9 is 'expected to make a full recovery' after being shot at by a 15-year-old girl Monday morning during a domestic disturbance response call.

Police report a K-9 and its handler searched the perimeter of a house in northwest Lubbock, near where the 15-year-old was hiding in the bushes. Investigators report she opened fire on the police K-9, striking it at least once. The K-9 handler returned fire.

The girl was taken to the hospital, treated for a dog bite and possible gunshot wound. Fflorian has been released from the vet and with his handler, according to the LPD.
