April marks Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month and, although COVID19 has made a lot of changes to everyday life, survivors can still get help.

Each April, Voice of Hope usually hosts its yearly Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser. Social distancing and stay-at-home orders have prevented the organization to put on the fundraiser, but that has not stopped it from raising awareness and helping survivors.

Voice of Hope is encouraging others to help 'Turn Texas Teal' and let victims and survivors know that they are not alone. Community Education Director Leslie Timmons, said the non-profit is still working to help those in need.

33 percent of Texans have experienced some form of sexual violence in their lifetime. If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual violence contact Voice of Hope - here.
