LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock police arrested two teenagers accused of robbing two different convenience stores nearly a year apart.

On Tuesday, April 7, police report Avantre Fitts, 17, and another suspect walked into the Valero at 50th and Slide Rd., where Devin Salazar, 19, was working as a clerk.

Investigators say Fitts pointed a gun at Salazar and took money from the safe. Salazar was able to take the gun and fire multiple shots at Fitts, then Fitts stabbed Salazar, according to a police report.

Fitts managed to get away and make it to the hospital where he was charged.

The clerk, Salazar, was being treated at the hospital when the U.S. Marshals arrested him.

Police say Salazar attempted to rob the Valero at 50th and Ave. U last May. Investigators report the employee came to the front of the store after hearing the suspects enter.  Surveillance video showed Salazar walk into the store, point a gun at the clerk and take the money. Both suspect then left the store.

Both Salazar and Fitts are now charged with aggravated robbery, a first degree felony. If convicted, they face up to life in prison with the possibility for parole.
