Milder next couple of days, cooler with rain in the forecast to end the week

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

TODAY: Temperatures will warm quickly with drier air moving in and a mostly sunny sky. High near 85 with a light westerly wind 8-15mph.
Current Temperature

TONIGHT: Another cool night with waking up temperatures in the 50s.

WEDNESDAY: We will continuing warming with highs in the mid to upper 80s and some 90s. Cloud cover does increase becoming cloudy by the late afternoon hours.

EXTENDED: A cold front pushes into the South Plains early Thursday morning. This will drop temperatures around 20 degrees with highs in the lower 60s Thursday and Friday. Some isolated showers might be possible with the front, but a better chance for rain looks to be Friday through the early afternoon hours of Saturday. This will be from the slow moving upper level low currently off the coast of California. Temperatures warm some this weekend, but another front looks to move in Monday. This looks to drop temperatures with possible freezing temperatures back and maybe a chance for mixed precipitation. Still a lot of details to work out with this system but something to keep an eye on.

Have a great Tuesday! Matt with the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
