Photographer captures families at home

LUBBOCK, Texas -

"It's heartbreaking, everything we're going through. But seeing everyone come together and being a part of that, it's really cool," Lubbock-based photographer Lauren Hodges said.

Just like most of us, she and her family have experienced changes to their daily lives and routines.

One afternoon, she decided to document it.

It's part of a nationwide project, capturing the "new normal" for families on their front porch.

Her message to her impromptu models: come as you are.

Some were barefoot, some with their pets and others with some hot quarantine commodities (i.e. toilet paper!)

"There was one where they had coffee cups, and they were all in like their pajamas and lounge clothes, and I loved that because that's my reality. That's what we've been doing," Hodges said.

Another photo, captures a shy mom peeking out from the front door.

She did not intend to be a part of the final product.

"That ended up being one of my favorite pictures for sure," Hodges recalled.

All in all, she spent no more than 10 minutes at each house, staying a safe distance on the sidewalk.

She was able to capture 14 families in total.

She most likely will not be headed out the door anytime soon for part 2.

"I don't want to be that voice that encourages people to teeter on that gray area. I Think it's important to be doing as much as we can to stay home" Hodges said. " Definitely keeping my family safe is a priority for me."

She hopes her project will remind others we are all in this, together.
