LPD officer injured in crash with Citibus

LUBBOCK, Texas -

A Lubbock Police officer has non-life-threatening injuries and a Citibus passenger has minor injuries from a crash at Avenue E and Broadway Friday afternoon. The bus driver was not hurt.

According to LPD, Officer Wyatt Myers, 25, was driving southbound in his patrol vehicle on Avenue E; the Citibus driven by James Cabe, 55 was headed eastbound. There was one passenger on the bus.

The two vehicles crashed in the intersection. The department did not report who had the right-of-way. The crash took out a signal pole.

Officer Myers was taken to the hospital. A 54-year-old bus passenger reported minor injuries but did not seek treatment. Cabe was not injured.

City crews will be at the scene for several more hours, working on the traffic signal.

The Major Crash Unit is investigating.
