It was a cold start behind the front that moved through late last night into early this morning. It dropped to 32 at the Lubbock airport and most of the recording sites around Lubbock.
It was a little bit colder north, including 27 at the Texas Tech Mesonet sites at Dimmitt and Hart. And much farther north, in the northern Panhandle, Stratford dropped to 21.
Since then, it's been a chill day. Some sun has helped the temperature make it into the 50s, with it several degrees warmer over the southwestern South Plains.
TONIGHT: Clouds increasing, low near 31 in Lubbock. Most areas on the Caprock while likely have a freeze, though it's possible the clouds may keep it a couple degrees warmer than we're forecasting. Wind E/NE 10-15mph.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy with a slight chance for light rain. There could even be a few rumbles of thunder. But rain amounts don't appear impressive. It'll stay chilly, high near 54. Wind SE/S 5-15mph.
SUNDAY: Warmer with a partly cloudy sky, high near 73. There is a slim chance for a storm Lubbock and points east. Most spots will just be dry and breezy.
NEXT WEEK: A few isolated storms are possible Monday and maybe Tuesday, but we just don't see a strong sign of rain. It'll be turning a bit warmer.
Have a great weekend and stay safe. Robert will have a full update to the forecast here Saturday afternoon.
