LUBBOCK, Texas -

We made it to 84 yesterday afternoon in Lubbock. The cold front moved through around 2-2:30 this morning. Northerly wind picked up 20-25mph and temperatures quickly plummeted. Cloud cover increase with some light drizzle and freezing drizzle with the freezing temperatures.

TODAY: Cloud cover and the gusty wind speeds continue in the first half of the day. Becoming mostly sunny with northeasterly wind dropping to 10-15mph with a high near 59. A great day to be stuck indoors and watching movies.

TONIGHT: Cold temperatures continue again near or below freezing for much of the area. Wind speeds wont be as strong as this morning, but still light enough for wind chills in the 20s. Cloud cover does increase again for the morning with some showers possible.

WEEKEND: A better chance for showers will be in our south and southeastern half of our area in the first half of Saturday. Just a small window for this activity before clearing east. Chilly temperatures continue and a few degree cooler then today. A breezy southerly wind Sunday will help temperatures to climb to the 60s and 70s. An isolated shower or storm possible, but again not much expected.

NEXT WEEK: Temperatures continue to climb with a ridge of high pressure to our south. Highs in the 80s and lows in the 50. Mid and upper level moisture will keep clouds over our area, but no good chances for rain. We may have a better chance late in the week with an upper level system digs west. Something we will keep you updated on as we get closer. Wind speeds also pick up Sunday through Tuesday for breezy afternoons.

Have a great Friday and weekend! Matt with the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
