Lubbock-Cooper educators drive through district to see students, families

LUBBOCK, Texas -

With schools moving to online learning, Lubbock-Cooper teachers who miss their students had an opportunity to see everyone from a safe distance.

A parade of educators toured around Cooper's Central Elementary School and on a route through other parts of the district.

Organizers say it was a way to show support and unity between families and their teachers.

"It just goes to show that we're more than faculty and staff and students. This is really a family, and we miss each other, we love each other, and so we want to be around each other and we want to see each other," Lauren Souk, with Lubbock-Cooper Central Elementary School, said.

Gov. Abbott's Disaster Declaration has closed schools until at least April 3. After that all districts in the state have been ordered to figure out remote learning.
