Some may have contracted COVID-19 at regional basketball tournament

Posted: Updated:

A regional high school basketball tournament played at South Plains College in Levelland may have been where some people contracted COVID-19 coronavirus. This is regarding cases elsewhere, not the five confirmed Hockley County cases.

Hockley County Judge Sharla Baldridge released a statement to KLVT Radio in Levelland and the Levelland & Hockley County News-Press late Tuesday night:

"According to the Texas Department of State Health Services they have been able to identify a possible common event with some of the confirmed cases in our region who attended an event in Levelland on March 7th, said event being a regional boys basketball tournament held at South Plains College. At this time this event does not seem to be a common attribute in any of Hockley County’s confirmed cases."

Judge Baldridge said Congressman Arrington's office has been helpful. She advises any citizens with concerns to call his office at 806.763.1611.
