Chalk Your Walk

LUBBOCK, Texas -

It all started with a single Facebook flyer that requested people to take part in chalk art. And the goal was to simply spread some positivity, during the pandemic.

It wasn't long before people all over the country began posting their photos, including Lubbock resident Bobbie Sorensen.
"I posted it in hopes that other people would get excited and smile," Sorensen said. "And I wanted people to do the same thing."
Sorensen has a passion for art and she jumped at the opportunity to get outside with her three granddaughters, Tadelyn, Addyson and Kloee.
The four of them covered the front of her house with beautiful pictures of rainbows, hearts and positive phrases.
Be kind, wash your hands and shop local were a few of the simple, yet powerful messages.
"We have two small businesses of our own," Sorensen said. "It is important for us to shop local here in Lubbock and keep these businesses alive."
Sorensen was thrilled with how the #ChalkYourWalk movement has spread on social media and she hopes people continue to get involved.
"Get out and do it," Sorensen encouraged. "Chalk is cheap, so get some fresh air and get the kids out of the house for some quality time."
This movement showed us that you can still make a difference when you're stuck at home.
