Some D.I.Y. projects could be just what you need to keep your kids busy at home amid the spread of COVID-19.

"I think there is something to be said for getting their hands dirty with materials," Miss Megan's Make Room owner Megan Shirley-Ross said.

Miss Megan's Make Room is offering craft kits for pick up at the studio.

"We are trying to do different things that are pretty low tech so you should be able to do it at home with minimal supplies," Shirley-Ross said.

All supplies will be included as well as instructional videos and print outs.

"Some things that we use are re-purposed or have been donated to us and we find a new way to keep things out of landfills," Shirley-Ross said.

The owner believes making and creating teaches many valuable skills like problem solving and thinking outside the box.

"I believe that creativity is inherent in us and it's something that we can practice to keep us busy and keep us going , but it also has a calming presence and the more that we practice it, the more it becomes a skill," Shirley-Ross said.

She warns parents, it can get messy.

"Keep in mind that it is part of the process and that art is not about being perfect," Shirley-Ross said.

If you were registered for the March Monthly Class, all of the supplies have come in and all of the kits are packaged and ready for pick up. Miss Megan will be in the studio from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be placing bags in/near the Little Free Library to snag, just call (806) 781-0955 to let them know you're on the way.
