Utility companies suspend disconnections amid COVID-19

Posted: Updated:

The City of Lubbock will not disconnect any power or water service. This is an effort to help anyone having trouble paying bills because of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

This will be policy until further notice.

South Plains Electric Co-Op and Xcel Energey are following suit. SPEC will not disconnect any service in March.

You have to pay your bill. These temporary holds on disconnects will keep the lights on, but it does not stop the balance from growing.

If you are having trouble paying the bill, call your utility company. They may be able to help.
