LUBBOCK -

There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Lubbock as of Monday afternoon. City leaders provided the update during a weekly health department news conference.

Mayor Dan Pope said he will issue a disaster declaration later today, which will limit the size of public gatherings.

Just before the city's news conference, President Trump said the federal government is now asking Americans to not gather publicly in groups of more than 10, for the next 15 days. The President's comments were made during a White House coronavirus task force update.

Lubbock City Manager Jarrett Atkinson said the number of outbound passengers at the Lubbock Airport Sunday was down about 55 percent compared to the Sunday before Spring Break last year.

Atkinson said the city's Emergency Operations Center will activate at a lower level Tuesday, to increase available resources available.
