President Trump and Governor Abbott both said Friday they want shoppers to not panic. They stress you do not need to hoard items from stores.
Abbott said during his news conference announcing an emergency declaration that no one needs huge stockpiles of toilet paper or water to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
United Supermarkets, like many other retailers around the country, is limiting the sale of certain items. It started more than a week ago, to stretch supplies.
"We're just asking people to be a good neighbor," said Nancy Sharp with United. "Purchase the quantities that you need, and eventually the supply chain will catch up."
Inventory varies from store to store. If you are going to shop any time over the next few days, be prepared for long lines.
