LUBBOCK -

The Red Raiders hung tough with the number one team in the nation, but fell 66-62 for their fourth consecutive loss.

Midway through the first half, West Virginia defeated Baylor 76-64 and clinched the Jayhawks the Big 12 regular season title.

Davide Moretti led all Tech players in scoring with 18 points and T.J. Holyfield was the only other Red Raider with more than 10 (11).

"I'm proud of our young guys, I'll defend these guys." Chris Beard said. "Our freshmen are playing really hard and sometimes we have three or four of them out there at the same time."

With the loss, Tech falls to 9-9 in Big 12 play and 18-13 overall. ESPN's Joe Lunardi projects them to be an NCAA Tournament team. They return to action next week in Kansas City for the Big 12 Tournament. Their first round opponent is still undetermined.
