Children of man killed in racing crash file suit against men charged
LUBBOCK, Texas -
The children of a man killed in a central Lubbock crash last month have filed a lawsuit against the men charged.
Anissa and Christopher Wright are the children of 69-year-old Howard Wright. The lawsuit states Wright was killed in a crash near 75th and Slide when Xavier Montalvo, 19, violently collided with the victim's vehicle while going 50 mph over the speed limit while racing with Anthony Martin, 28, Luis Salinas, 24.
The lawsuit is against the men and a car club, Muscle Mayhem, which all three men were a member of. Court documents blame Salinas and Martin for Wright's death. Documents also hold the social club responsible for using the internet to encourage and promote street racing.
Wright's children are asking for unspecified damages, intending to let a jury decide how much to award if they win.
Montalvo, Martin and Salinas were all arrested for the crash, charged with street racing. Montalvo faces an additional charge of manslaughter for Wright's death.
