U.S. Senator John Cornyn made a brief campaign stop in Lubbock Monday. His Saddle Up and Vote campaign brought him to the Silent Wings Museum.
This is Cornyn's fourth run for the office, having served since 2002. He brings with him endorsements from President Trump, state leaders and colleague Senator Ted Cruz.
The Cook Political Report lists Cornyn's seat as solidly red. There are a host of Democrats running to challenge him after Beto O'Rourke's failed attempt to unseat Senator Cruz in the midterms.
There are four Republicans challenging Cornyn in the primary: Mark Yancey, Dwayne Stovall, Virgil Bierschwale and John Anthony Castro.
Recent polling from the Dallas Morning News and UT Tyler shows Senator Cornyn has 88 percent support among decided Republican voters.
