LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock Christian University has announced its newest president.

Dr. Scott McDowell will take over for the University's previous president Tim Perrin. Perrin left LCU last summer to return to Pepperdine University.

Dr. McDowell has more than two decades worth of experience in Christian higher education. He comes to LCU from Abilene Christian University.

Dr. McDowell said his biggest priority is to listen. He hopes to keep the university going in the right direction.

"I really feel like all six presidents before me, but particularly Tim Perrin just immediately before me, has done a fantastic job setting the direction of LCU," he said. "So I think I would withhold any kind of judgement on changes, but really want to hear what we're doing well and ways we can improve."

Dr. McDowell will begin his appointment on April 1.
