The Lubbock Northwest Little League organization may not get to play this season.
Organizers blame previous board members for not filing paperwork on time. The league is in danger of losing its charter.
There is a special meeting Tuesday to try to recover from this eleventh-hour warning. Organizers say they heard only last week their league wasn't eligible to play yet, despite holding try-outs and registration. The emergency meeting is to elect new board members and get the league back on track.
This is all to get approval in time to start the season in a few weeks. Organizers cannot assign teams, get uniforms or schedule anything without this approval.
Along with electing a new board, there is also a request for volunteers to help get the fields back in playing shape.
The meeting is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25 at The Faith Club, near University Avenue and the Clovis Highway.
