Police searching for carjacking, shooting suspect

Lubbock Police are searching for the person who shot someone during a carjacking early Monday morning.

Police say someone walked up to a car at the Hill Top Apartments on East Fourth Street near MLK Blvd. Two people were in the car.

The suspect got in the car, showed a gun and ordered the person behind the wheel to drive. Police say, while stopped at 34th Street and Avenue Q, the carjacker shot at the front seat passenger. The passenger jumped out.

The shooter then demanded the other person start driving again, leaving the shooting victim in the middle of Avenue Q.

The shooter later threatened the driver then go out and ran away. The driver returned to where the passenger was left on Avenue Q. Police report the victim's injuries are not life-threatening; the victim is being treated at the hospital.
