A man who investigators say pointed a gun at a Lubbock County Sheriff's Office SWAT team member is recovering in the hospital after a SWAT member shot him Saturday morning in Levelland. The Texas Rangers are now investigating.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Lubbock County SWAT and members of the Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division tried to serve a search warrant at a home in the 800 block of Avenue C in Levelland.
Investigators say the person who lives at the home was the only person inside when law officers arrived. The DPS reports as SWAT was entering the home the suspect pointed a weapon at one of the SWAT team members. This is when a SWAT team member fired at the person, hitting and injuring them.
The suspect was treated on-scene and is now at the hospital in Levelland.
No names were released in the update provided Saturday morning by DPS.
