We continue warming through Monday, colder and a slight chance for wintry mix after that

LUBBOCK, Texas -

It was a much nicer day for the area as temperatures climbed to the 60s with that mostly sunny sky.

TONIGHT: Temperatures drop the the lower mid 40s by 10PM, you'll need a jacket if heading out this evening. Another cold morning with temperatures dropping to the 30s with a light wind changing to the southeast.

SUNDAY: Sunny and even warmer with highs climbing to the 70s, upper 70s to our southern counties. The westerly wind will become breezy 10-20mph.

NEXT WEEK: Another warm and breezy day Monday, then it turns much colder for the rest of the week. The cold front expected late Monday into early Tuesday, the will drop the highs to 40s.

The big question over the last few days has been will our area get precipitation. Models are in a better agreement keeping heavier rain to our south, in central and east Texas. Light rain will be possible Wednesday, then a mixed with light snow through early Thursday. Still a few days for things to change, but for now it all looks light and diminishes Friday.

Have a great rest of your weekend and join us tonight on the News at Nine.
