UPDATED: Midland man arrested accused of shooting officer in the leg

Update:

A man in Midland was arrested accused of shooting a cop in the leg. 

Brian Rubin is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant. 

Police say he shot the officer while they were investigating a disturbance. 

No additional details have been released. 

If convicted, Rubin faces up to life in prison with the possibility for parole. 


A Midland police officer was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after he was shot in the leg during an disturbance call, according to NewsWest9.

The officer was responding to the call in the 3000 block of W, Illinois around 12:30 a.m. 

He was shot in the leg and taken to the ER with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer's since been treated and released. 

NewsWest9 reports the suspect was not injured and has been taken into custody. Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.
