Delivery services continue during winter weather

Posted: Updated:

While school and businesses are closed, food joints around the area are still delivering.

"I think our pizza is worth a little fender bender here and there," One Guy Pizza Manager Manny Barbosa said.

Whether it's hot pies or a box of cookies, delivery drivers are bearing the cold to bring warmth.

"They want those sweets to kind of get them through the day," Insomnia Cookies employee Audrie Melgoza said.

In fact, deliveries go up on days like today.

"He's had more deliveries today than he had on Monday morning on a regular day," Melgoza said.

"Every note we've gotten has been like 'have some warm cookies on a snow day', so I guess it's fun for them," Insomnia Cookies employee Felix Escobedo said.

Facing challenges on the road, drivers have taken precautions.

"It's for sure making me slide around a lot," Escobedo said.

"I told them to dress warm, we still want to get the food out to the people, people still got to eat," Barbosa said.

They may take just a little bit longer.

"The cookies will get there when they get there, but I'd rather the cookies be late than your life lost," Melgoza said.

When the packages reach the front door, there are mixed reactions.

"You'll either get oh my gosh thank you so much or oh we're so sorry that you're out here," Escobedo said.
