Former Whitharral High School coach pleads guilty to federal sex crime

HOCKLEY COUNTY, Texas -

A former coach at Whitharral High School has pleaded guilty to a federal crime related to having sex with a student.

Gregory Flores admitted to using a cell phone to message the girl's name and address to a third party, a federal crime.

Court records show the message started a sexual relationship, where they met repeatedly, and Flores asked the victim to send him explicit photos of herself.

Flores sent the first message in December 2017, but school administrators didn't learn about their relationship until August of last year.

They overheard other students talking about it at a cheer camp after the victim had cut off the relationship.

Flores faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. He must also register as a sex offender.
