LUBBOCK, Texas -

Texas Tech is worldwide and it was one display Tuesday at the College of Education's Study Abroad Fair.

These programs send students to Spain, Chile, Ghana, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.

Comfort Pratt is a professor from Ghana. She said West Africa's historical impact can help teach today.

"Ghana has some of the biggest castles where they catch the slaves and sent them into the boats from there. So it's important for us to take the students for them to learn about, you know, slavery," Pratt said. "They've kept the chains, they've kept the dungeons the way they were, and learn about that so that they can include that when they are teaching. So it's not only for history teachers, it's for all teachers."

Any Texas Tech students can take these courses. They last from two to six weeks and students can get multiple class credits for it.

The largest is in Salamanca, Spain, which includes scheduled tours of up to 10 countries in Europe.

Scholarships are available to help cover the cost.
