LUBBOCK -

Lubbock Police are searching for the person or people who tried to abduct a woman in east Lubbock Sunday night.

Investigators say Teddi Perez, 28, told officers someone tried to kidnap her while she was walking on 34th Street near Avenue A. A driver approached in a baby blue Ford Taurus. The car has a red front driver's side door.

Perez told police the man first drove alongside her and asked if she wanted a ride. She refused and kept walking. The man then offered money, which she also declined. Then, police tell us the man drove next to her with the driver's side door open, as if they were going to pull her into the vehicle. The man then parked the car and ran toward her. She yelled and ran away.

Investigators say two people nearby heard her screams and approached, to help. The man then stopped chasing the victim and drove off.

A news release from LPD asks everyone to remain aware of their surroundings. If you know who is responsible for this attempted kidnapping, call 911 or CrimeLine at 806.741.1000. You can remain anonymous.
