Grieving for Kobe

As the tributes to Kobe Bryant have poured in this week, there's a grieving process that's happening for many fans who didn't know him personally, but felt like they did. Experts say that's not out of the ordinary. As we've been inundated with news about the helicopter crash that killed him, his daughter and seven others, it can take its toll on your mental state. For fans who grew up watching him play, it can feel like losing a family member. Experts say the best ways to deal with grief is to acknowledge your pain, get back into things that once brought you joy and don't isolate yourself when you need of emotional support. Texas Tech basketball commemorated the victims of the crash before the game last night against West Virginia. A moment of silence filled the USA. Several players also wore shirts pre-game honoring the late NBA icon.

Vanessa Bryant posted a statement on Instagram where she thanked all of the people who shown her family love and support. She posted in part "there aren't enough words to describe our pain right now. i take comfort in knowing that Kobe and Gigi both knew that they were so deeply loved." She also reached out to the families of the seven others killed in the crash saying she and her children "share in their grief intimately." Bryant told fans who want to support the victims' families to donate to the MambaOnThree fund at mambaonthreedotorg. Vanessa Bryant is left with three daughters, one of them born just last year.

Monday is the last day to register to vote for the party primaries

You can pick up a form at the county elections office, the driver's license office, public libraries, and post offices. Early voting begins February 18 - the primaries are March 3rd. Another way you can help: make sure others get to vote. There's still a critical need for poll workers ahead of "Super Tuesday." Both the republican and democratic primaries are that day with many candidates for a lot of races. Poll working is a paid gig, including paid training. You can apply at multiple locations across town. We have that list in the FOX34 news app.
