LUBBOCK, Texas -

A man has been indicted accused of violently beating his estranged wife.

Andres Criado, 34, is charged with aggravated kidnapping.

Court records show Criado attacked her on Christmas day at a bar when he saw her with another man. Police report Criado was already drunk when he dragged the victim outside before viciously tearing out her hair, punching her and throwing her in his car.

The victim told police Criado continued striking her and pulling her hair while he drove off, threatening to rape her. She reports she was able to escape from the car at an intersection, but Criado threw her back in and continued hitting her.

She was able to call 911 and left the phone in the car's floorboard. Police tracked it to her home where she says Criado dumped her and sped off.

Investigators followed the phone signal to his home and found it in the vehicle with hair matching the victim's inside.

Criado is held on a $100,000 bond.

Aggravated kidnapping is a first degree felony. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison with the possibility for parole.
