Posted: Updated:

The West Texas Roller Derby is calling for all skaters, referees and non-skating officials for a recruitment event on Saturday, January 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Sk806 Events Center. No skating experience is needed and all fitness levels and welcomed. If skating is not your thing and you still want to learn the sport, referees and non-skating officials are open to men and women ages 18 and up.

The WTRD mission is "to provide athletic opportunities for women and recreational entertainment for the community while perpetuating the popularity of women's flat track roller derby and the integrity of the league."

The West Texas Roller Derby league began in 2007, known then as the West Texas Roller Dollz. WTRD officially changed their name in 2017. In the same year, WTRD began the process of becoming a non-profit organization. WTRD is a charity and community focused sports organization, which is skater owned and operated. WTRD is comprised of a diverse group of strong-minded, strong-spirited and strongly skilled women who love the sport of flat track roller derby and are determined to see it take a permanent hold in Lubbock.

The Sk806 Events Center is located at 2424 Clovis Road.
