Texas A&M University is investigating a possible case of coronavirus in one of its students who recently traveled from Wuhan, China, where the virus originated.
The university reports the Brazos County Health District notified university administration the student may have contracted it. Brazos County includes College Station.
According to a news release from A&M, the immediate health risk to the campus community is low.
"Health care providers were aware of public health guidance on novel coronavirus and quickly recognized that the patient met the criteria for coronavirus testing and is being kept isolated at home, while the precautionary testing is done. If there is a confirmed case, we will promptly announce it," the Brazos County Health District reported Thursday, according to FOX26 Houston.

Earlier this week the first diagnosis of coronavirus in the United States was reported. A man in Washington state who had recently traveled to central China contracted it.
