LUBBOCK, Texas -

During a special-called meeting Wednesday morning, the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents approved $90 million for the Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine.

The approved project budget is a more than $69 million increase from a budget approved in December.

The revised budget will help fund the completion of the more than 185,000-square-foot facility in Amarillo. It will accommodate 400 students with break-out rooms, office suites and student lockers.

Texas Tech broke ground on the facility in September of last year, a milestone for the university.

The Amarillo campus is set to join Texas A&M as the only other vet school in the state, opening its doors in the fall of 2021.
