LUBBOCK, Texas -

Justice Larry Doss was sworn in as a Justice of the Seventh Court of Appeals Tuesday morning.

He was appointed by Governor Abbott last November to replace the retiring Justice James Campbell. Doss has been practicing law for 20 years and previously served as a clerk for Senior U.S. District Judge Sam Cummings.

"I'm familiar with the appellate process, I'm familiar with the workings of this court and I look forward to working with the justices on a daily basis to handle the appeals of this region," he said.

Justice Doss won't have too much time to celebrate however, he already has an opponent from Amarillo running against him in the Republican Primary.
