Partner agencies stand in for LPD during Officer Reyna's funeral

LUBBOCK, Texas -

According to Lubbock County Sheriff, Kelly Rowe, local law enforcement agencies share a lot of the same missions.

"Jurisdictional lines may separate that from time to time, but it's always important when something like this happens that we can be there to assist," Rowe said.

This is common when an agency goes through a tragedy. The Lubbock Sheriff's office and DPS Troopers will bring in extra help so LPD can grieve the loss of their own officer.

"About 60 will be out," Rowe added. "We'll provide assistance in the dispatch center as well we'll also have team standing by in case we have a critical incident take place."

While the Sheriff's office fields calls, State Troopers will respond to crashes.

"We are going to have units out there directing traffic and that so just watch out for folks. If you're going to be along that route, if you have to utilize those, please slow down. We're asking folks to slow down any way because we've been having a lot of bad crashes any way and we want people to remember the important thing is to focus on driving and get their safely," Sergeant Johnny Bures with the Department of Public Safety said.

Both Bures and the Sheriff said they didn't think twice to help out their fellow first responders.

"We have partner agencies that are going through one of the worst things they can possibly go through so we take that as our mission at that point to fill in that gap until they get through all of it," Rowe stated.
