During a prayer for Lt. Eric Hill, thanking God, Pastor Michael Nelson with the Roswell Church of Christ said "thank you for the life, the love, the memories, the laughing and crying, everything that came with Eric."

Blane Chapman delivered a "Cowboy Remembrance" of Lt. Hill, who was an accomplished roper. Chapman said Hill's first passion was horses and, when away from the fire house, was rarely seen without his boots, hat and Levi jacket.

"He was relentless to be the best he could be in everything he did," Chapman said.

Firefighter Ricky Murphy said Lt. Hill was someone you could absolutely trust with anything. "If he said 'go', I had no doubts about going with him."

The funeral was held at the Rip Griffin Center on the Lubbock Christian University campus.
