A jury has acquitted Ascencion Martinez, finding him not guilty of continuously molesting a child for years.
Martinez is free following the verdict. The Slaton man was accused of forcibly touching a young family member, but his lawyers claimed the story of abuse was made up for ulterior motives.
His defense team showed what it described as poor police work and called into question the validity of his accuser.
During trial, the prosecution showed body camera footage of the accuser's 2015 testimony to a Slaton police officer. In the video the alleged victim's mother also claims Martinez confessed to her when he was confronted, and claimed her daughter, had made the first move.
