LUBBOCK, Texas -

UPDATE FROM SOUTH PLAINS TELEPHONE CO-OP AT 5:45 am:

Crews from South Plains Telephone Cooperative have remained on-site throughout the night and are still on-site at this time.

Restoration of customer's services started at 19:00 last night, and full customer restoration was completed just after 01:00 this morning. 65% of the total cable restoration is complete as of 05:00 this morning. Crews will continue to work until full cable restoration is completed, which will be later this afternoon.

If any customer's service is still not working at this time, they should call either our 24x7x365 service/repair number of 800-692-4057 or call the business office during regular business hours at 806-763-2301.

ORIGINAL STORY:

From South Plains Telephone Cooperative

Approximately 1,000 members of South Plains Telephone Cooperative are without service.

A third party has cut a South Plains Telephone Cooperative fiber optic cable near the intersection of 170th and Slide Road. Crews are on scene, and repairs are underway.

Some of the neighborhoods affected by this cut and outage include:

Slide Park

South Fork Estates

Indiana South

Kemper Estates

Timber Ridge

Country Estates

and many residences and businesses North and South of the intersection of Woodrow Road and Slide Road, and from this intersection East to Flint Ave.

Some customer's services will be restored before others as the day and evening progress. The fiber cable that has been severed by the third party is rather large, and it will take well into the night, and possibly early morning hours, to complete all the repairs. South Plains Telephone Cooperative crews will remain on site until all repairs are complete.
