The Lubbock Professional Police Association wants everyone to take a key message from the loss of two public servants at a crash site in north Lubbock.

"Slow down," urged Mitchell Fish with the LPPA. "Slow down. Pay attention for first responders, pay attention for road crews."

About an inch of snow had fallen earlier Saturday morning. Roads were in relatively good condition, but did have some icy patches.

"This is a completely preventable tragedy," Fish said. "It is, a hundred percent, and there are two families that're without a loved one. And there's two emergency services that're irrevocably changed. Our city has been irrevocably changed because of that. You've gotta slow down. It's unacceptable."

The Lubbock Professional Police Association announced on Facebook t-shirts will be sold to raise money for the families of fallen first responders, police officer Nicholas Reyna and firefighter Eric Hill, as well as injured firefighter Matt Dawson and his family.

The shirts will be $15 each, with all sales going to the families. Youth sizes and adult sizes small to 2x will be available. The shirts are not yet on sale. According to the Facebook post, they will be sold in-person around town. We will let you know when the shirts are available.
