Manhunt underway for bank robbery suspect in Amarillo

AMARILLO, Texas -

Amarillo police are searching for a suspect in a reported robbery at Chase bank at Bell and Interstate 40.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, the robbery occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. A white male entered the bank and demanded money, saying that he had a gun.

The man left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money in an unknown direction.

No one was hurt during the incident.

The suspect is described as between 5'8" and 5'11" tall, with dark hair and facial hair. He was wearing a gray button-up shirt, blue jeans, a black cap and brown work boots.

The search for the suspect has led to two elementary schools being placed on lockout.

Anyone with information on the suspect's location is asked to call APD or Amarillo Crime Stoppers at (806) 374-4400 or online at amapolice.org.
