A warmer New Year's Day - FOX34 Lubbock

A warmer New Year's Day

Posted: Updated:

New Year's Day will be warmer in three respects. For one, it will be warmer than yesterday. Temperatures climbed to 52° in the afternoon on New Year's Eve. Also, last New Year's Day, the temperature only climbed to 27°, so yeah it's definitely warmer. On average, New Year's Day temperatures reach 53° in Lubbock, so we're warmer than average too. Despite the "heat" and sunny skies expected, it will be breezy this afternoon with SW winds 20-25mph.

TODAY: High of 60°, SW wind 20-25mph, sunny.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy, low of 35°, SW wind 20-25mph.

A weak front will cool things down a little Thursday and Friday, but not by too much. A stray shower off the Caprock may be possible late Thursday too. Beyond that expect sunny skies with temperatures perhaps cracking the 60s again Sunday afternoon.
