Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

A few spotty showers to start this morning , here is the current radar below:
South Plains Radar

TODAY: Coverage of light showers with a few embedded storms will increase through the day. Rain totals will stay light with a few tenths of an inch possible in some locations. It will stay clouds and cooler with the high only nearing 54. The wind will be breezy from the southeast 12-22mph.

TONIGHT: The upper level low to our west will push a front through the area. This will bring a better chance for heavier rain and storms starting this evening though the early morning hours. A low chance for a few severe storms before the chances come to an end from west to east. Some locations might get up to an inch or more of liquid precipitation, with the low near 37.

WEEKEND: Although the rain chances will diminish, we will still be dealing with a strong wind Saturday. This time from the west and with dry air in place some blowing dust possible. A secondary front will move through bringing colder air with highs dropping to the 40s Sunday. Early Sunday morning a few light flurries possible on the back-end of the system.

2019 ENDS-2020 BEGINS: Temperatures will stay quiet chilly with highs in the 40s and low 50s through the week, lows dropping to the teens and 20s. Things quiet down with more sunshine. More clouds with another system moving south of our area late in the week, but we look to stay dry.

Have a great Friday! Robert with the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
