Christmas was celebrated all across the South Plains, including at the Lubbock County Detention Center.
Former Lubbock city councilman T.J. Patterson has been going to the county jail at Christmastime for more than 30 years, spreading the joy of the season to whom he calls God's people.
"Because these are God's people, they've committed a sin, they committed a felony and they had to pay society," Patterson said. "Sharing what I have, I can't make nobody do nothing. I can only share and hope some people hear, because you want to be free with your mind and you want to make some positive contributions in life."
Patterson says he hopes his daughter, councilwoman Sheila Patterson-Harris continues this tradition when he can't.
