LUBBOCK, Texas -

UPDATE (2:00 p.m., 12/26/19)

Police records show two people were arrested in an incident at the Howard Johnson hotel near 50th and I-27 Wednesday afternoon. A third was detained but released, and investigators are still looking for the fourth suspect.

Officers report a housekeeper saw a rifle and "illegal narcotics around the entire room" while he was checking the room for damages after check-out time. He called police and showed them photos he took, prompting the officers to call for back-up. The police confronted three people coming out of the room and detained them, suspecting a fourth may have been inside the room at the time.

While searching them, police report finding two guns, marijuana, and Xanax. Bryan Garcia, 18, was arrested and charged with felony drug charges and theft of a firearm. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison with the possibility for parole.

The second detainee, Faith Garza,  was arrested for unrelated warrants. The third detainee was released.

SWAT officers arrived to secure the scene, enter, and search the room. No one was inside. Investigators Wednesday emphasized there were no active threats.

Investigators also searched Garcia's vehicle in the parking lot, reporting finding a broken stock belonging to the rifle they found while searching Garcia earlier.

Police are still looking for the fourth suspected person involved, identified only in police records as Garcia's cousin. Investigators haven't released further information on them.
